Tad Weed started conceptualized large tennis racquets in the mid-1970s. His aim was to help more people learn and enjoy the game. Although Weed has not made too much of a profit by selling large racquets, he feels vindicated that major companies such as Wilson are introducing large racquets in 1997.

Professional women tennis players raised concerns over the salaries they receive, which are far below the level earned by their men counterparts. Despite the popularity women players contribute to the game, they receive less than 50% of title prices, particularly in the Wimbledon event.
