Bothersome Bunions
Article Abstract:
Bunions may progress into a chronic and debilitating problem with pain and swelling, sometimes requiring surgery. Most bunions are caused by the body's accommodation of a flexible flat-foot deformity. Running may cause further problems. Ill-fitting shoes are also thought to cause bunions, particularly from wearing high-heeled shoes. Wearing wider shoes, wearing running shoes with wide toeboxes, covering bunions with pads, and giving feet a break during the day are recommended suggestions for preventing and treating bunions.
