A man who has been running for 38 of his 52 years described the anguished six-week wait for medical tests on the state of his heart. If running was cut from his life, life as he knew it would be over. His joy is great when the test show controllable high blood pressure, and a healthy heart.

Winter is cool: the coldest season can be one of the best for running

Many runners avoid running in the winter, apparently fearful of the cold air, but an active body will cause the temperature to seem about 20 degrees warmer than it really is. Ice and snow on the ground, along with a greater amount of darkness, create the real hazards.
