Cognitive dietary restraint is associated with stress fractures in women runners
Article Abstract:
Cognitive dietary restraint (CDR) is examined in female runners with a stress fracture and with no stress fracture history. Results suggest that subclinical menstrual cycle disturbances and increased cortisol levels that are associated with high CDR might contribute to lowered bone mineral density and increased stress fracture risk.

Traditional and nontraditional supplement use by collegiate female varsity athletes
Article Abstract:
The traditional (single and multivitamin/mineral supplements) and nontraditional supplement (herbals, botanicals, and other biologic and nutrient supplements) use by female athletes was examined. The results indicated that in 1997 a significant number of collegiate female varsity athletes used dietary supplements.
