Features of Encore, a Columbia 5.5 sportboat built in 1963 by California based Columbia Yachst, a 32-foot daysailer are described. The company is launching a new 30-foot sportboat that will be ready for the Pacific Sail Expo in Oakland in April 2004. The features of both the boats are compared.

Turbo Tornado
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of the Turbo Tornado sailing boat is presented. This model measures 20-feet in length has been upgraded by a doubling of the sail area. Difficulties which were experienced with the mast in races are discussed.

Trimmed for speed
Article Abstract:
The latest generation boats are built bigger in size and complicated enough, enabling them to travel at a faster speed. The powerboats are designed to be trimmed independently allowing them to work at higher speed.
