Coral calamity
Article Abstract:
A marine biologist/educator describes his experience while having an adventure, alone in his Islander 29 hull from Isla Mujeres, off Mexico's Yucatan peninsula to his destination Puerto Aventures, some 50 miles down the coast. He describes his incident while sailing alone in coral-strewn sea where his GPS screen on deck showed crosstrack error and his boat was flying and he put the engine in neutral, lowered the sails and made a Mayday call for help.
