Article Abstract:
The island of Malta in the southern Mediterranean is full of paradoxes, much of the island is unspoiled, yet the city of Valetta is dirty and polluted. The coast of the island is ideal for cruising. In winter the mooring facilities in the harbour of Valetta are not ideal.

A group of cruisers was trapped for days on the island of Azores in Portugal because of bad weather. Despite this, the sailors enjoyed the days of bad weather because of the community spirit and solidarity felt by the sailors while being grounded in the island.
