Article Abstract:
Falmouth lifeboat coxswain Frank Jose had Curfew built in 1892. The boat's keel was standard at the time but its external keel was radical and its bolts very strong. The boat was ridden hard for the next 70 years, was sold for only $1,500 in 1968 and still wins races across the Antarctic waters.
