American hunters who like the tanned skins of the their game mounted as artfully as possible, do not get satisfied just with the faithful re-creation of the animals. Hunters are of the view that as hunters they pursue game not to feel mastery but because of the sense of awe and respect they experience in the presence of wild animals, and taxidermy appeals to them equally as it recalls, and prolongs, that sense.

The modern buffalo wars

The buffalo was, is, and into the near future shall continue to be, the most disgraceful example of wildlife 'conservation' on the American continent. Their conservation is seen as a matter of convenience, based on animals that don't get in the way.
