A Day at Xanadu
Article Abstract:
A typical day in the computerized home of the future is explored. The Xanadu house is conceived as a prototype home for a wealthy family in 1990; many of its options will be widely available. Computers and electronic equipment will greatly enhance life in the home of the future. Sensors built into the beds will monitor the functioning of their occupants to insure that each person is healthy. A house brain will control and run the home efficiently. The house brain will speak and respond to commands. All chores and tasks are done by the house brain unit.

Two families describe their visit to Hong Kong with their seven children aged 8 to 14. The rules change regarding hotels, food and transportation when travelling with children, but these children were hardy and curious throughout the trip.
