Don't weight up: can working the night shift put on pounds?

Researchers found that night workers tend to gain weight. A combination of snacking, less exercise and hormones having to adjust from weekday to weekend time clocks may be causes. Eating a nutritious snack, exercising in gyms, or simply jogging on a regular bases, can control the weight gain.

Japanese studies indicate that vitamin E, an antioxidant chemical, may prevent vasospasm. These are the chest pains called angina caused by artery narrowing. These studies suggest that angina pain relief could be gained in E-deficient patients, by giving them vitamin E supplements.

A fiber-rich diet may be connected to the health of the large intestines and even promote the healing of ulcers. Findings in a six-year study with 48,000 men ages 40-75 seem to support this connection. The fiber-rich foods include beans, fruits, and vegetables.
