Two studies have indicated that the introduction of more zinc or magnesium into the diet, possibly through cereal or legumes, might help to lessen some of the side-effects of PMS. The minerals might be used in addition to the more standard recommendations of reducing sodium and caffeine.

Not the heavy: pounds not found in HRT pills
Article Abstract:
Research with 146 women over a 15 year period found that even though they were taking HRT, they gained no more weight after menopause than a control group did. These new findings mean that women who have HRT perscribed cannot cite weight gain as an excuse for not taking the therapy.

No weak knees: jump rope may tighten slack muscles
Article Abstract:
Jumping rope may help women prevent injuries to the anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) of the knee. Jumping rope strengthens the hamstring muscles, which are often weak in women. Strong hamstrings aid the ACL and help prevent injury to it.
