Effect of high cardiorespiratory fitness and high body fat on insulin resistance
Article Abstract:
The blood glucose and insulin response to an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in overweight, fit women (OF) are compared with those of lean, fit women (LF) matched for high cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF). Findings suggest that, compared with lean fit women, estimated insulin sensitivity is only slightly lower and plasma triacylglycerols are almost identical in overweight women with equally high CRF, despite a twofold elevation in body fat percentage.

Effective health promotion and clinical care for large people
Article Abstract:
The author argues that most health professionals feel physical fitness is synonymous with weight loss, but that this attitude creates a significant barrier for large people. The need for large people to become more physically active and sensitivity to their psychological states are discussed.
