Effects of heavy resistance training on myostatin mRNA and protein expression
Article Abstract:
The effect of 12wk of resistance training on mRNA and protein expression of myostatin, follistatin-like related gene (FLRG), activin IIb receptor, cortisol, glucocorticoid receptor, myofibrillar protein, as well as the effects on muscle strength and mass and body composition is examined. Results indicate that resistance training or increased glucocorticoid receptor expression appears to up-regulate myostatin mRNA expression.

The cellular energy crisis: mitochondria and cell death
Article Abstract:
Mitochondria, which produced majority of cellular energy in the form of ATP, play an important role in the death of a cell by a process known as apoptosis. During apoptosis, the integrity of mitochondria is compromised and various pro-apoptotic proteins are released into the cytoplasm.

Reduced neural drive in bilateral exertions: a performance-limiting factor?
Article Abstract:
A study is undertaken to find whether bilateral deficit are able to explain limitations in performance in bilateral exertions. Voluntary force production and neural drive during unilateral and bilateral exertions are compared.
