Effect of self-monitoring strategies and task complexity on motor performance and affect
Article Abstract:
The effect of self-monitoring (SM) strategies on motor performance was analyzed. Results showed that positive self-monitoring (PSM) strategies brought about superior motor performance of a difficult task. However, negative self-monitoring strategies were found to be applicable when performing an easy motor task. These findings indicate the kind of SM strategies that athletes may adopt under different situations.
