Two opposing philosophies regarding the positioning of the eyes during the putting stroke are presented. One school of thought recommends that golfers set their eyes inside the target line of the putt. The opposing view states that the eyes should be positioned directly over the ball and target line.

The development of a consistent straight-back, straight-through putting stroke can a help a golfer sink a higher percentage of short putts. The problem with most amateur golfers is that they use too much wrist action on their short putts, thus causing the putter to swing too much to the inside.
