The keel configurations on the 1992 America's Cup yachts included tandem configurations, foils with tabs and foils designed to rotate. The spar of 'Stars & Stripes' was repaired after the yacht dismasted.

Some of the 1992 America's Cup boats may be using a hull configuration with a movable foil in front of the ballast bulb and fixed keel. This design increases the efficiency of the keel.
