Walgreen's daring use of a golfing pro to sell his golf balls named for his dog Peau-Doux, paid off when Bulla won on the 1941 PGA Tour. Sales of the golf balls skyrocketed. The need for rubber for World War II intervened, but sports figures today have Bulla and Walgreen to thank for popularizing endorsements.
