Research links daily total intake of folate to a reduction of coronary artery disease risk and indicates that folic acid may lower homocysteine, a factor in the blood that has been linked to artery disease. Researchers recommend that everyone receive 400 micrograms of folate each day.

A study indicates that the drug ibuprofen may be successfully used in the treatment of cystic fibrosis, a disease that results in the deterioration of the breathing function. Results showed a slowing of the deterioration, especially in younger people.
