Research into turkey hunting accidents reveals that seasoned hunters are responsible for the majority of accidents. Seasoned hunters are so intent on bagging game that they anticipate the appearance of a turkey and fail to positively distinguish the target.

In California: Merriam's turkey releases put on hold
