Glenohumeral range of motion and stiffness in professional baseball pitchers

Article Abstract:

Kinematic measures were performed in a group of asymptomatic professional baseball pitchers to determine side-to-side differences in passive glenohumeral range of motion (ROM) and stiffness. It was found that repetitive stress of long-term throwing creates altered glenohumeral rotational patterns in the throwing shoulder without compromising the passive restraining quality of the joint but more research needs to be done by including active restraining mechanisms.

Knee biomechanics during landings: Comparison of pre- and postpubescent females

Article Abstract:

The lower-extremity biomechanical differences between pre-pubescent and postpubescent female recreational athletes during three drop jump-landing sequences to determine whether maturation influenced injury risk is examined. The findings suggest that developmental changes influence knee mechanics during landings in female athletes and highlight the need to examine multiple landing patterns when investigating landing strategies.

Dynamic postural stability deficits in subjects with self-reported ankle instability

Article Abstract:

A reliable index for dynamic postural stability is developed and tested to investigate if it could differentiate between stable ankles and the functional ankle instability (FAI). Results reveal that the dynamic postural stability index is an extremely sensitive measure of the postural stability and can hence be effectively used for the differentiation purpose.
