Grizzly aftermath: when the attack ends and the terror recedes, all that remains is courage

A women traveling in Alaska with her husband and friend was badly mauled by a grizzly bear. William Wennen, the doctor who responded to the hospital call in Fairbanks, AL, had had such an emergency six other times. After 10 hours of surgery, the women recovered although she lost her left eye.

Premonition bear
Article Abstract:
One member of a hunting party on Kodiak Island experienced a sense of unease as he prepared for the trip. He was attacked by a grizzly bear while dressing a deer and survived. The party plans to return to Kodiak Island, and has revised their techniques.

The grizzly jinx

Two hunters were surprised by a grizzly bear and two cubs in Alaska while they were hunting sheep. One hunter suffered severe injuries after being attacked, but survived. The other hunter was not injured and killed the mother bear.
