Article Abstract:

Four dirt bike motorcycles were compared and test under a variety of conditions for handling, wear and performance. The $4499 Yamaha WR500 scored best for trail riding, while the $4349 Honda CR500 had better acceleration. The $4749 KTM 550 M/XC and the $4399 Kawasaki KX500 were also evaluated.

Five for the open road

Article Abstract:

Five motorcycles were compared in a road test for performance and handling. The $14,676 BMW R1100RS was found to be the best overall bike for its combination of comfort and performance. The BMW K1100RS, Honda ST1100 ABS-TCS, Kawasaki Concours and the Yamaha GTS 1000 were also evaluated.
