A visit to the Hayward Classic Track Meet in Eugene, OR, is described. The choice was made not to participate because of advancing age, but this decision led to a lesson in humility as 43-year-old Henry Rono was one of the participants in the masters meet.

A runner can become better motivated to keep a running log by making it more of a personal journal. It need not be shown to anyone, so perfection in writing is unnecessary. Feelings can be written down, along with observations and goals.
