Research indicates that estrogen reduces levels of Lp(a) cholesterol in the blood, a substance that has been linked to heart attack and premature blood-vessel disease. Estrogen lowers Lp(a) as effectively as niacin, the only other substance known to reduce Lp(a).

Younger lungs: can weight loss restore lung-lost power?

Research with 475 steelworkers over a 9-year period indicates that weight and lung function are positively correlated. About 1% of lung function is lost with every pound gained. There is no evidence yet that losing weight will restore lung function.
