Heart-smart surgery: genetic drug makes post-op much kinder

Surgery may put stresses on the body that can lead to heart-disease-risk. An experiment was conducted with 200 people who had non-cardiac surgery. The test group was given a beta-blocker, atenolol. They had zero fatalities after surgery compared to 8% in the placebo group.
