In most sports it hardly matters whether the players are right-handed or left-handed, but in baseball the left-handed enjoy a distinct advantage due to the physical layout of the baseball diamond. The mystique of left-handed pitchers is examined.

The end-of-the-season 1991 baseball title races are discussed. Traditionally by September, the pressure is building on both the leading and contending teams. Eighty-three title races have been decided by three or less games since 1901.
