Logging roads closed to traffic are prime places to hunt. Game animals are most easily found early and late in the day. Tips on scouting out sites and hunting successfully include carrying a compass or GPS, moving quietly and looking for curves in the road.

It is much easier to hunt geese from a shore than it is to field hunt. Digging a blind in the field is hard work, whereas it is easy near the water, where fewer decoys are necessary. Hunters should set up with the wind at their backs on most occasions.
