How to get the folate you need
Article Abstract:
Women during their child-bearing years need about 400 micrograms of the B vitamin folate daily. Diets low in folate have been linked to developing heart disease and to having babies with neural tube birth. By Jan 1998, food manufacturers will be required to fortify white rice and other foods with folate.

Feeling your oatmeal
Article Abstract:
Research with 18 college students indicates that oatmeal contributes more to physical endurance than ready-to-eat oat or rice cereals. Students who ate oatmeal cycled for 5 hours, compared to 4 hours for the other students. Oatmeal is rich in soluble fiber, which releases energy into the body slowly.
