The marine park at Canada's Desolation Sound in the Pacific Northwest is far from desolate, with its rich birdlife and wildlife as well as beautiful anchorages such as Galley Bay. Its over 6,300 acres of foreshore and 14,000 acres of forested uplands have lakes, hiking trails and rock faces.

Tilting at Washington's Whidbey
Article Abstract:
A cruise around Puget Sound's Whidbey Island is recounted. Whidbey is the longest island in the lower 48. Circumnavigating it can take five days because of adverse currents and fog. But the sailor is rewarded with spectacular views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains.

Article Abstract:
The most confusing matter about the Pacific Northwest's most popular cruising destination was the name Desolation Sound. As per the nature of the place and beautiful landscape conditions, the name doesn't suit the place.
