Hybrid power: Diesel-electric propulsion comes of age...maybe
Article Abstract:
The list of benefits and obstacles when one invests in the latest innovation of diesel-electric propulsion and a distributed power system for boat is described. The focus of the technology was to run the electric-propulsion motor for as long as possible off a battery bank that could be recharged by a freewheeling propeller when the boat is under sail.
