The Women's British Open is to become the Ladies' Professional Golf Association's newest major championship. A new major tournament was needed because the du Maurier Classic is no longer being held after a new law was passed in Canada, which disallows tobacco companies to sponsor sporting events.

An interview is conducted with the Swedish woman golfer Sophie Gustafson. At the age of ten, Gustafson was drawn to the solitude of golf as a means of coping with a severe stutter and in 2000 won two tournaments on the LPGA tour.
