The golf teachings of Claude Harmon Sr. are presented by his son Claude Harmon Jr. The elder Harmon imparted his golf wisdom to his four sons who all became professionals. Harmon Sr. was a respected professional in the 1950s who learned the game of golf from some of the best players of his era.

The criteria used for determining the best golf teachers in the US were: swing knowledge, dedication to students, and communication skills. Each teacher was first nominated by the men's and women's PGA of America sections, as well as by touring professionals and golf industry veterans.
