Clipless pedals must be properly maintained by eliminating accumulated dirts and lubricating their mechanisms. Proper disassembling clipless pedals can be done by releasing the spring tension, loosening stuck cleat bolts, unscrewing pedals, removing axle/bearing assembly and greasing axle assembly.
