Making accurate variation and deviation corrections

Four directions must be calculated by a navigator: true course, true heading, magnetic heading and compass heading. A visual reminder to use in remembering whether to add or subtract corrections when going from compass to true or true to compass is presented.

A description is presented of the experiences of a couple who used the distinctive outline of the World Trade Center as a navigational aid when sailing in New York Harbor. The destruction of the towers is discussed.
