Sea accidents are usually caused by collisions where both parties fail to see the other before they can take precautionary measures. It is suggested that aside from a human lookout, electronic mechanisms such as a radar reflector and detector or simply lighting the sails would help prevent such accidents.

Midwinter day trip

The participation of a sailor in a gathering of wooden boats in Morehead City, NC, is narrated. The sailor used a 20' Simmons Sea Skiff for the trip while his friends brought along a 1930 round-stern wooden boat.
