Society puts a great deal of pressure on women to be thin, and women runners in particular feel they must be thin to compete. This is not necessarily true and does not take into account the different body types. Women must watch for symptoms of eating disorders.

Summer running: too hot to handle?

People who run in hot weather risk possible heat stress, cramps, heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Runners should know their limits, drink a lot of water, try to run at cooler times of day and wear loose, light clothing.
