Article Abstract:
John McDermott won the 1911 US Open at the age of 19, the only teenager in the history of golf to have done so. However, beginning in 1913, his life began to fall apart and by 1915 he had been institutionalized in a mental hospital. To this day, no one is sure what led to his mental deterioration.

Nelson played professional golf from 1932 to 1945 and was one of the winningest players in golf. After retirement he played in exhibition games, was a sportscaster and now sponsors the Byron Nelson Golf Classic game. Anecdotes about his life and career are presented.
