A nearly 3,000-mile passage from San Francisco, CA, to the Marquesas Islands was marred by frequent storms, an engine fire, and chronic seasickness. Each could have been cripplingly frightening, but the crew calmly analyzed each situation, confronting and ultimately conquering their fears.
