Passage notes: Southern extremes
Article Abstract:
Penguins, albatross, and giant petrels are as common as pigeons in a city park along the Canal Beagle, and the flag trees are curiously stunted, their branches shaped by the direction and path of the relentless high winds over the rough terrain. The Beagle is a favored starting point for cruising the area since it is less windy than the Strait of Magellan, 210 miles to the north, and has many safe and incredibly beautiful anchorages.
