Physical fitness and activity as separate heart disease risk factors: a meta-analysis
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between physical activity levels, cardiovascular fitness, and heart disease risk. Epidemiological findings indicate that cardiovascular fitness level is a more significant risk indicator than activity level, but public health efforts need to emphasize the importance of moderate exercise in promoting health and preventing heart disease.

Is physical activity or physical fitness more important in defining health benefits?
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between physical activity, cardiovascular fitness, and health. Findings indicate that active individuals have a reduced risk of developing health problems when compared to sedentary subjects and there is an inverse relationship between fitness and disease, but neither factor can be identified as more important to health.

Physical activity and all-cause mortality: what is the dose-response relation?
Article Abstract:
This article investigates the relationship between physical activity levels and mortality rates in women and men. Findings indicate that there is a strong inverse relationship between physical activity volume and all-cause mortality and that even minimal adherence to exercise guidelines significantly reduces mortality risk.
