Power struggle: three 600-hp diesels face-off

Article Abstract:

Three 600-hp six-cylinder diesel engines are compared: Caterpillar's 582-hp 3176B, MAN's 574-hp 2866 LE401 and Detroit's 605-hp 6V-92TIA DDEC III. Each engine was installed in a Ocean Yacht 48 Super Sport. The MANs was recognized as best due to its compactness and cubic-inch displacement.
