Boaters who know how to read and interpret 500-millibar charts are better equipped to make accurate weather forecasts, and thus, plan their route better. Unlike surface-based weather charts, 500-millibar charts show windspeeds and the interaction of the lower and upper atmosphere.

Spotted surprise: a jaguar crosses the Mexican border to reclaim its ancestral haunts

Warner Glenn, a rancher and hunter, was surprised to discover a 175-pound jaguar in the Peloncillo Mountains on the Arizona-New Mexico border. Warner managed to take several pictures of the jaguar, which he included in his book, 'Eyes of Fire.'
