Recipes for four soups that contain garlic and vegetables rich with vitamin A are presented. The ingredients are alleged to improve the performance of the immune system. The recipes are for roasted garlic and vegetable soup with pasta, oyster and corn chowder, lentill soup with sun-dried tomatoes and carrot, tomato and walnut soup.

Echinacea may be effective in preventing the common cold, studies show. The various clinical trials, however, are difficult to compare, as they used different brands with different results. The roots or tops of E. angustifolia, E. pallida, and E. purpurea all have nearly identical effects when used in the preparation of echinacea.
