The high on-court temperatures during the 1997 Australian Open caused a debate. Some said that the heat was dangerous to the players and that there should be breaks and the roof should be closed. Others claimed that the Open is an outdoor event and that the players have prepared for that.

The state of the stadium
Article Abstract:
The US Tennis Assoc is planning to build a new $180 million tennis center, just 14 years after spending $10 million on the current home of the US Open. The new center, to be ready for the 1996 tournament, would feature three stadiums that would each hold more than 10,000 people.

A stadium for Lipton at last
Article Abstract:
The stadium in Crandon Park is scheduled to be complete for Lipton's 10th anniversary tournament in 1994. Lipton organizers agreed that the stadium would be used only for tennis and would not be named for an individual person.
