Donald M. Street describes his sailing adventures on board his classic boat Iolaire. Street's trip took him from Ireland to Scotland for a regatta for Fife boats and then on to Scandinavia, through the Kiel Canal and across to London, England.

The first step in preparing a sailboat for a hurricane is to cut windage as much as possible. Additional anchors and rodes will be necessary. Chocks should be rigged with chafing gear. Boats stored ashore are safest stuck in holes on supports.
