Merely identity: Cultural identity and the politics of sport

Article Abstract:

The identity politics is viewed as distant from materialistic goals and as reading politics into every aspect of knowledge production. The necessity of a renewal of critical public sport sociology that extends the cultural studies tradition is discussed.
