Reduced airway responsiveness in nonelite runners
Article Abstract:
The effects of enduring training on airway responsiveness in nonasthematic subjects are studied. Methacoline challenges under deep inspiration prohibition revealed that endurance training attenuates airway responsiveness in nonasthmatic, nonelite runners, and airway hyporesponsiveness is potentiated after the marathon suggesting involvement of humoral, airway factors, or both in modulating airway tone after exercise.

Airway cells after swimming outdoors or in the sea in nonasthmatic athletes
Article Abstract:
Research indicates a direct correlation between airway neutrophilia and endurance exercise in swimmers unexposed to high chlorine concentrations continuously. Data show low levels of L-selectin in airway cells, indicating cell function modulaion or hyperventilation-induced cell recruitment. Furthermore, airway exposure to hypertonic condition during exercise influences airway eosinophils and nitric oxide.

Airway cell composition at rest and after an all-out test in competitive rowers
Article Abstract:
The possible relationship between the degree of ventilation during exercise and airway cells is described. Explanation of whether airway cell composition is affected by rowing is also mentioned.
