Rule by rule
Article Abstract:
Rule 5, as provided by the United States Golf Association, describes in what situations a player is allowed to change balls during the play of a hole. If a ball is deemed "unfit for play," the ball may be replaced, meaning it has a crack, cut or is deformed. The rule also explains what to do if a ball shatters when hit.
