Some of the tips to stay warm and dry on water and wear right fabrics in order to avoid wardrobe malfunctions are provided. Lightweight, breathable, quick-drying synthetic fabrics together with breathable wind- and waterproof fabrics like Gore-Tex make it possible for sailors to keep them comfortable while sailing, dry and also warm or cool as the weather demands in all conditions.

Hand-bearing compasses
Article Abstract:
A good hand-bearing compass is an important navigation aid and serves as an effective backup to a steering compass and is useful in correcting any deviation, taking a back bearing, position fixing and collision avoidance. The eight compasses taken to SAIL staffers on the water and tested for accuracy and ease of use are described.
